Improve You’re A-Body’s Handling with A Bolt-in Front Sway Bar Upgrade
There’s an old saying that muscle cars do one thing really well, and that’s go fast in a straight line. That may have been true back in the day, but there is a huge movement the last decade or so to change that mindset. Now the going thing is muscle cars that handle. You’ve seen them at autocrosses and other events. Maybe not full on pro touring style efforts, but none the less a classic 60s or early 70s muscle car with real brakes, serious rubber, and a wicked stance.
Part of that appeal of a muscle car that handles is creating something that is the best of both worlds; a powerful muscle car that can handle and brake like a modern ride. Upgrading the suspension to handle the increased tire size and the grip that comes with those wider tires is a must. For General Motors’ intermediate A-body platform, a beefy front sway bar is an easy upgrade that will work with your Chevelle or other A-body suspension as your muscle car project build sees other suspension upgrades.
A Splined Sway Bar Built to Take the Punishment, On Track or Off
Our A-body front sway bar kit features a 38.6-inch long 4130 chromoly steel splined anti roll bar that is 1.25-inches in outside diameter. We use .188-inch wall hollow tubing to provide plenty of strength, yet reduce overall weight compared to a solid front sway bar that is typically used. Our splined sway bar kit arms are cut from A36 plate steel and are 11.75-inches long with two different mounting point options for the front sway bar links to adjust sway bar effective rate. The arms feature a 50-degree bend, keeping the arms tucked tight to the chassis for best possible tire clearance, perfect for those track warriors running extra wide front rubber for the most grip possible.
We include custom made billet aluminum pillow blocks with Delrin bushings and sway bar link hardware that allow the splined anti roll bar to bolt right into place of the stock stabilizer bar with no modifications or custom work. The front sway bar links are a robust 1/2-inch rod end design that can be used to adjust the sway bar link ends and attach to both stock and tubular front lower control arm setups, allowing our splined front anti roll bar to work with any future front suspension upgrades. Our vehicle specific pillow blocks bolt to the original sway bar frame mount location and house Delrin bushings for a simple installation.
Upgrade your 1964-1972 GM A-body front anti sway bar to our splined sway bar kit and see just how much improvement you’ll feel the next time you throw your A-body into a corner. We know it’ll put a grin on your face for sure!
